NEW YORK — A federal judge has blocked President Trump’s vanity ad campaign, temporarily suspending the ads and remaining schedule. At the moment, the taxpayers are still on the hook for the $19 Million cost.

Common Cause and local branches of the Service Employees International Union sued the White House, Department of Homeland Security, and the Office of Management & Budget to stop broadcast of the 13 ads promoting Trump and his administration’s conservative accomplishments, each of which had the disclaimer, “Paid for by the U.S. Government.”  A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told CNN that the ad buys were approximately $19 Million dollars.

In her 14-day temporary injunction, a federal judge from the Southern District of New York found Oct. 11th that the plaintiffs were likely to succeed on the merits and suffer irreparable harm, and that an injunction served the public interest. The judge ordered the airing of the ads be ended, stopped any future payments between DHS and the media agency, and barred any extension of the contract, effective Oct. 11 at 6:45 PM.  CNN reported Oct. 12th that ads ran hundreds of times after that deadline.

President Trump had previously posted on Truth Social that the Trump-aligned MAGA, Inc. super PAC would pay for the ads, later clarified to not mean reimbursement.

We’ve posted the judge’s order at  AmericanDemocracyMinute.org.   I’m Brian Beihl.
