WASHINGTON, DC — After defending the multi-million dollar vanity television advertising touting his conservative accomplishments, President Donald Trump now says his super PAC, not the U.S. Government, will pay for the ads. That’s illegal, too, because coordinating with a super PAC violates campaign finance rules.

The ads, termed “public service announcements” by the White House, celebrate Trump and his agenda. October 5th, the President posted, QUOTE: “I have decided to do the Patriotic Ads, among others, and pay for them myself, and with money I raised for MAGA, Inc.” Then October 6th, the White House clarified his Truth Social post to NewsMax, indicating Trump would not pay for ads which had already run, saying, QUOTE, “The President’s Truth was not referring to reimbursement.”

The Campaign Legal Center had already filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, citing statutes prohibiting use of federal funds for campaign ads. In response to Trump’s claim he’d use MAGA, Inc. money instead, the Campaign Legal Center’s Brendan Fischer wrote, “After charging taxpayers $10M for thinly-veiled campaign ads, Trump now says he’ll have his super PAC pay instead. One problem: federal law prohibits officeholders from controlling a super PAC or directing its spending,” UNQUOTE.

It’s unlikely the FEC can or will take action. Trump has not appointed enough commissioners to reach quorum and enforce the rules. We have more at AmericanDemocracyMinute.org. I’m Brian Beihl.
