October 8, 2026 12:53 pmWASHINGTON, DC — Documents released Oct. 7th by election law group Democracy Forward show a chilling campaign by ICE and other federal agencies to investigate voter registration organizations, seeking evidence of noncitizen voting.
The 169 pages of heavily-redacted inter-agency emails, obtained with a Freedom of Information Act request, chronicle a highly-organized effort to prove widespread noncitizen voting as directed by President Donald Trump’s executive order. Agencies involved include Immigration & Customs Enforcement Investigations, Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, and the Department of Justice.
We reported in June on the FBI’s raid on the Cleveland offices of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, a nonprofit which registers Black and Brown communities in Ohio’s major cities. Documents and computers were seized and staff interviewed, according to witnesses. But the new documents reveal wider investigations of groups in Texas, Pennsylvania, California, New Jersey, Minnesota, Michigan, Arizona, Florida, and Georgia.
Documents suggest the agencies were also prepared to infiltrate the groups to QUOTE, “Substantiate recruitment methods and activities related to illegal alien voter registration.” Another document, entitled “ICE’s Role in Elections and at Polling Facilities” says, “so far this year HSI has made 36 criminal arrests and 56 administrative arrests related to voter fraud.”
There were 155.2 million votes cast in the 2024 election. There is no evidence of widespread noncitizen voting anywhere in the U.S. We’ve linked to the ICE documents at AmericanDemocracyMinute.org. I’m Brian Beihl.
