October 5, 2026 11:36 amWASHINGTON, DC — Voter registration deadlines are imminent in several states the weeks of Oct. 5th and Oct. 12th. While election day registration is available in 19 states, rule changes in some states only allow use of a provisional ballot for same day registrations.
If you live in Montana, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, Alaska, Rhode Island or the U.S. Virgin Islands, registration is 30 days before election day and has now passed. Montana does allow same day registration during early voting.
Oct. 5th, voter registration closes for Arizona, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky and Indiana. Oct. 6th, voter registration ends for New Mexico, and Oct. 7th in Missouri.
Oct. 13th, 21 days before election day, voter registration closes in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Oregon, Maine, Kansas, West Virginia, New Jersey and Maryland. Louisiana allows online registration until Oct. 12th. Alabama, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Guam register voters between 1 and 19 days before election day.
