WASHINGTON, DC — With more states poised to distribute mail-in ballots, all eyes are on the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on President Trump’s USPS order for mail-in voting eligibility. September 10th the high court again blocked the State of Missouri from using a gerrymandered 2025 map in November.
In a 40-page submission September 9th, a coalition of pro-voter groups led by the League of Women Voters, argued, QUOTE, “Never before has USPS attempted to interfere with elections in this way, let alone a fast-approaching election. And nothing in federal law authorizes USPS to refuse to deliver ballots,” UNQUOTE. They also noted the “sloppy and rushed” state voter data portal to be used, and the chaos its failures will create.
In Missouri, we reported that Justice Kavanaugh denied an appeal by the Missouri Secretary of State to overturn a unanimous ruling by the Missouri Supreme Court. That ruling returned the state to 2022 Congressional maps, and put a redistrict referendum on the November ballot. But a conflicting ruling by a Missouri Federal Court said the fairer 2022 map would cause chaos, since the 2025 map was used in the primary. September 10th, the U.S. Supreme Court again blocked the 2025 from being used in November.
