The FBI is reportedly throwing more agents and more overtime at its investigation of Fulton County, Georgia’s 2020 election. After another FBI raid in Ohio, a funder of the voter registration nonprofit reports its records have also been subpoenaed.
In documents obtained by MS NOW, FBI leadership authorized a surge of 260 FBI intelligence agents from around the country to examine election records from heavily Black and Democratic Fulton County, GA. The authorizations included overtime expenses, including for weekends and holidays. The records were seized in a January 28th raid on the county’s election records storage facility. Three previous county and state machine and hand recounts found only routine errors but no widespread issues. Employment site Indeed reports the average salary for an FBI special agent is over $115,000.
June 11th, a reported 100 agents raided the offices of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, then fanned out in Cleveland neighborhoods interviewing people associated with the organization. America Votes, a get-out-the-vote group and a funder of the OOC, told Votebeat June 17th that its records had also been subpoenaed. The Trump DOJ still has not issued a statement on the raid, nor has a warrant been made public.
Pro-democracy groups nationwide have condemned the raids as intimidation.
