October 1, 2026 12:04 pmCARSON CITY, NV — President Donald Trump claimed in his July 16th speech that the Department of Homeland Security found 278,000 noncitizens on U.S. voter rolls, almost 16,000 of them in Nevada. How many of those Nevada residents were actually illegal voters? Zero.
The day after the President’s conspiracy-laden speech, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a press briefing, “There’s not a question, it’s not even a debate. One thing I love about numbers and I love about facts is that they don’t lie,” UNQUOTE. Nevada’s Secretary of State was notified of 15,903 noncitizens on its voter roll, apparently found using the DHS SAVE database system.
Then, in an August 13th video meeting with state officials, obtained by the Nevada Independent, DHS backtracked, saying that number was “a ceiling”, and it only had 185 registered voters for which it had a “high confidence” were noncitizens. Further investigation by the state found all of those voters were likely to be citizens.
In announcing on September 28th that Nevada will not use the SAVE database system, Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar told KRNV, “It’s widely known that the SAVE program flags eligible voters as ineligible at high rates. We cannot and will not risk disenfranchising eligible voters and ripping away someone’s Constitutional right to vote,” UNQUOTE.
