Texas Senate Republicans Approve Gerrymandered Congressional Map; California Democrats Pass Bill to Put Retaliatory Maps on the Ballot

Texas and California took further steps in a Congressional gerrymandering arms race, as theTexas Senate approved a Congressional redistricting map likely to gain five GOP seats in the midterm. In retaliation, Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill also with gerrymandered maps which needs a voter majority to bypass the state’s independent redistricting commission.

Brian is gone today, and we're rebroadcasting a story from last month. But there's an update from Tarrant County since. The county commissioners committed to a $250,000 contract, using taxpayer money, to hire the Public Interest Legal Foundation to defend themselves. PILF, founded by White House counsel Stephen Miller, is the same organization which gerrymandered the districts in the first place.
