Charges of illegal noncitizen voting have been filed by Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach against a respected local mayor, who just won reelection with 83% of the vote.  The politically ambitious Kobach promises “hundreds” more prosecutions.  It’s highly unlikely.

Ohio Secretary of State Refers 1,200 Alleged Illegal Voting Cases to U.S. DOJ.  His Track Record is Less Than Stellar

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced October 28th that his office had referred 1,200 illegal voting cases to the U.S. Justice Department for prosecution. But his track record of convictions is less than stellar, and many of the cases were previously declined by Ohio county prosecutors for lack of evidence.

September 16th, Maine and Oregon were the first to be sued by the Trump Department of Justice for refusing to provide voter data and election process information to be shared within federal agencies. Six more states have been sued, and it could be a good thing.

New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte signed three election bills Aug. 1, one a positive reform requiring handicapped-accessible voting machines in all towns. The others, however, add barriers to disabled, elderly and other mail-in absentee voters.
